Raggedy

November 30th, 2006

This was for the latest Drawergeeks. You can click onnit for a nicer, bigger, more robust version. Honestly, I’m not sure what I was thinking here, other than perhaps trying to get Andy’s life to match his name.  It’s a mood piece, yeah, that’s it.

Here’s the initial sketch, as well as a bit of a zoom in.

This piece moved me almost to tears. When you can pull emotions from a viewer with you imagination… Mr. you have a gift. This is perfect.

did you actually PAINT this? Oh my! I loved it but now I love it more.

  3. Rasta Says:

Great use of color. I also really like the texture created with the paint effect.

Thanks Doug, that means a lot.

Muffin, well, I drew the original line work with a sharpie on some copier paper, and then I painted it in Painter. I used an impasto brush which gives you strokes thickness. So your comment totally made my day!

Thanks Josh. Those are the colors of the town we live in eh?

Ah, I see. :P well, at least my lack of ability to recognize painter made you happy. I kinda figured after I alrady left the comment that painting UNDER the linework would be kinda difficult.. but.. it really is a very good effect, and I still love your work. ;)

    Ha, thanks Muffin.
