Elephant Glass

Just cuz, I decided to render out my elephant teapot out of glass and a more simple ceramic. No real reason really, other than I wanted to know how to render glass and simple ceramic better. There’s a nifty little vid of it below.

Hey, the Dido Fictional Advertising Poster Exhibition is running now at the Odori Museum in Sapporo Japan. I’m one of only two artists from the U.S. with illustrations in the show. I have to say, I’m pretty humbled by the art work in the show, holy moly! You can check out lots of photos from...

Elephant Tea

I started modeling and texturing a 3d elephant to help teach myself some of the new tools in the new version of Maya, and then, my brilliant wife said, hey, you should make that into a teapot. So I did!

Nazrat Travel Accomodations

I got invited to participate in an illustration exhibition at the Odori Museum in Sapporo Japan. I’m pretty excited. Looks like I’ll have three poster illustrations at the show which runs the second week of December. The theme of the show is fictional advertising posters, so I made one using my very relaxed Tarzan character. I’m posting...

Triple E. and the Paper Elephant

Bowing to peer pressure once again, I’ve posted 3 elephants in a row.  Just messing around with techniques again on this one. This is all based on a piece of paper with a big prune juice stain on it. Yeah, I just took some prune juice, poured it on a piece of paper, folded up...

Simple Elephant

I’ve been playing around with a simpler style (like I’m not simple enough, I know I know). Anyway, I’m diggin’ it, it’d be fun to do a whole story in this style sometime.

Figberticus, Figgles, Bertie

He’s known as all of those, yes it’s Figbert. Merrill named him of course. Anyway, here’s a couple recent pictures in honor of his second birthday.

Thoughts on The Fall

So I finally saw the movie The Fall. And there was much to love (including the interplay of story and imagination between a grown man and a little girl). It has become one of my favorite movies. The imagery was so inspirational that I decided to write down some of my thoughts on the design, composition of shots,...

Goose Stepping Out

That Mother Goose, what will she do next? Anyway, you’re in for a whole carriage full of process/making-of stuff! An initial drawing of Mother G. I really liked her face, but the rest wasn’t quite working for me. Here’s the final drawing. Much more protein, just the way I like it. Here’s ten panels showing a bunch...
