Did you know that the Twinkie has strawberry shortcake origins? Yep. The equipment for making the strawberry shortcakes was not being use at the strawberry farm off season. Looking for a way to use the equipment, the Twinkie was born. Originally it was filled with banana cream filling until WWII when bananas were rationed. Vanilla cream was substituted for banana. Since then there have been many more “substitutions”
