Believe it or not, this was a breakthrough sketch for me. Besides really liking the character, I'm really happy with the line quality.

So I'm trying out a new illustration style/technique. I kind of like where it's headed. Here's the sketch for it. I also did a version with a lighter background. I actually like both versions, but there's definitely more contrast with the darker and the characters pop more.
I've been playing around with a new illustration technique and I'd love to hear what folks think.
