Some quick fan art for the fabulous web comic Cleopatra in Space. I’ve got another more involved one I hope to post soon. If you’re not reading Mike Maihack’s CIS, check it out, it’s so great.
One of my favorite things to do is to do illustrations using new techniques I’ve never done or even heard of before. No pressure, just have fun doing something new. I did this using more of Photoshop’s new bristle brushes, along with some different layering and painting techniques. Click on the pic for a zoomer.
Yep, this looks pretty different than my regular stuff huh? But it’s not that far off from my photography. Hmmm. Well, in order to learn the new bristle brushes in Photoshop CS5 I decided to just try painting over a photograph of my daughter. As I was painting and experimenting with the brushes I had a few thoughts. Click MORE to read my ramblings if’n you want.
Hey, so like, yeah. Anyway, this is cool. Some of my illustrations got featured in a new book out about illustration called Drawing Inspiration. I’m also quoted in it blathering on about color theory type stuff. It’s written by Michael Fleishman who’s previously written my favorite all time book on illustration Exploring Illustration. Anyway, check out the book it’s chock full of illustrator goodness.

Here’s a small clip showing a little bit of the art work I did for Phil Vischer’s What’s in the Bible DVD. If you want to see the rest of the art I did for it,check out the DVD sometime, it’s quite a nifty show.
Sounds scary don’t it? It do, it do. But it’s really just a short making of movie for my illustration of Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four. I put it together for a talk I’m doing for the local chapter of Siggraph. Anyways, enjoy, and it really does look better in HD on Vimeo.
